Freedom from what?

photo-1497556250211-e4d52ac4ab0d

I love butterflies! They are such cheery, beautiful little creatures & when I watch them flutter & dance, twirling here & there from flower to flower, free & happy! I never cease to feel inspired by them.

photo-1518141949770-b22df85270cf

Jesus said something wonderful, he said, in John 8 verse 32: ‘ You will KNOW the TRUTH & the TRUTH will set you free.’  Like the butterfly, truth would not be a burden to us but rather something that would unburden us, make us travel light on life’s journey & feel happy too, happy travellers!

But free from what? What did Jesus mean? Are we then free to do whatever we please? Insist on our rights? No. Have you ever known anyone who has done just as they pleased? if so, do they look happy to you? So, what did Jesus mean? What freedom can be gained by knowing the TRUTH?

photo-1533855203250-42593a874525

First of all, what IS truth? Jesus said that he was truth. So, then, truth is connected with becoming a spiritual person, & happiness is born from that. The way Jesus lived his life while on earth gave us the ultimate example of someone who walked his journey through life through the good, bad & the ugly & sought His Father’s presence, The Lord’s prayer comes to mind, doesn’t it? ‘ Our Father ‘ a dad we can call ours, someone we can chat to without fear, & someone just like a dad who sorts through our problems, bringing relief to our hearts, I can feel my butterfly wings fluttering already! ‘Let your name be sanctified’ we can be proud to call him OUR FATHER; & again, relief to know that He has a plan for our future, a promised Kingdom or Government that will be in His loving, tender control; His will of love, peace & joy to come upon the earth just like it surely is up there in Heaven, knowing too, that we can be assured that He will provide for us if we seek His presence & that if we forgive others and unburden ourselves from bitterness & a vengeful spirit, His forgiveness will wipe away those ugly smudges that rob us of confidence & good will towards others; in temptation we have a friend who will clear our heart path so we won’t mess up our lives bringing distrust & pain upon our families. All of that light, happy freedom found in Mathew 6 verses 9 to 13.

Seek God and His presence and travel light x

Why is LOVE the most POWERFUL weapon?

42708920_1852796924834642_1060163482462191616_n

It seems strange to use the word ‘weapon’ with the word LOVE, doesn’t it? but only love can conquer evil & its various shades.

How? I truly believe the power of love & its true value lies in us seeking God’s presence. God, Scripture says, IS LOVE, (1 John 4 verse 8) & if we don’t know our God, then… how can we truly know what love is.

photo-1516969412521-c917474012c2

We all meet with problems in life & when we try to handle those problems without seeking God’s presence and His guidance, then, we use our own understanding of things which is rooted in imperfection, thus, we can make an even bigger mess of the problem at hand.

Simply, if we apply love to any unpleasant situation, we are applying God to that situation, His awesome bandage of power, a true balm of healing. God is love & so applying LOVE means to apply God to an unpleasant situation & in time, it MUST work out because LOVE NEVER FAILS. 1 Corinthians 13 verses 4 to 8 tells us what love IS & what love is NOT.

First Corinthians 13:4-8 New International Version (NIV)
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.

If you have a problem, try applying God to your situation, applying LOVE. In time, it might take years but in the end, LOVE= GOD NEVER FAILS!

If you are feeling lost, alone or unhappy or if you are feeling happy & content, please, I urge you to accept Jesus as your Lord & Saviour, repent of your sins which he can wipe out for you and give you a fresh new slate, God will never leave you. You will never feel alone again. Talk to God freely and pour out your heart to Him.

Romans 10:9-10 New International Version (NIV)
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

God bless you all & remember… the greatest weapon is LOVE!

Life is the Greatest Journey YOU will ever be ON, sprinkle a little of the ‘uncommon’ onto it

There are many people living unexciting, monotonous lives. What’s wrong with that? Why should that be a concern? Well, it’s a bit like going to sleep every night & choosing never to dream, ever! just sleep without ever experiencing the surprise, pleasure drama and revelation that dreams convey.

For many, it’s uncommon to choose adventure over a false stability, a need of assurance that everything will be as it always has been & the need for it to continue on just so… Life is a journey and a journey involves movement.

Many people fear change. They feel safer if they don’t take any risks. The thought of going on an adventure terrifies. Choosing something radically different, something they have never known or ever done before is never on their agenda, they want to stay in the ‘known.’ They eventually become immune to asphyxiation symptoms: drowsiness, boredom, fear of something unknown inviting them to experience its energy.

&, a lot of people are reasonably content to live like this.

Are you?

The saying goes, ‘life is short.’ But when we think of the many, many experiences we can have, enjoy & grow from, well, it’s unfathomable really, isn’t it? to just choose a life that is the same, day in and day out.  It’s a phenomenal way to think that by doing something different, hopefully something we normally wouldn’t choose to do or go, that this one thing could open up a whole new world & challenge us in the best possible way = to grow!

I encourage change. It’s ok to be afraid of it. Start of slowly, take one thing or do one thing or go somewhere different & all that stale caution will gradually wear off, as you’ll acquire an appetite for change &, in change there is adventure, sometimes risk but, oh, look at what you gain! Insight, maturity, new friendships, challenges &, a ‘word’ that has a deeper meaning than happiness… fulfilment. In short. SATISFACTION.

I like to think we were all given a crayon box to colour our lives in with &, by using all the crayons in the box, what an interesting life you’ll have! If we do interesting things (many of those things are simple, simple things! inexpensive even!) we become interested in life. To go through the motions of life day in and day out and to choose to live this way because it’s safe or comfortable means that something in us that could have been, or could have ‘come alive’ never gets a chance to emerge & enrich our world.

For instance,  there are many ways to travel without leaving home. I’m going to write more on  that tomorrow.

It’s exciting to be alive! &, you know, just as we season our food, to add just a little flavour, so too, there are many ways we can  season our life experience by adding something a little ‘uncommon’ to it. I’m doing uncommon things, (uncommon for me) in my life & loving it! more on that tomorrow.

Enjoy your weekend & make it remarkable!  by doing something interesting .

Change & why it’s a good thing!

Without change, you don’t grow. Without change, you don’t know…know anything new about yourself, change ruffles up the inner feathers & you get to see yourself react & respond, it might be negatively or positively & the result from either reaction, will be a move forward or a step back.

girl-2178157_960_720

Change is for our good. It might seem unwelcome at times & certainly unwanted but there is a lesson in the shift & you grow, growth is all part of the life experience & really, how safe are we if we choose stagnation instead of taking another turn & finding out more about ourselves & what life has to offer in another place or meeting new people who will no doubt bring a much-needed freshness into a space that has grown a little stale.

My life has been one of constant change. I shudder to think of what my life would have been like if I had stayed all my life in one place. I love the fact that yesterday, on a whim, off we went to visit a castle & then just drive through the countryside breathing in its freshness, scents & sights so intoxicating to the soul. It was a spur of the moment thing, a “Let’s do it!” Life breathes well when spontaneity is a regular dose in your life.

Change is always a bonus if it makes you simplify your life & free it up for more of what truly makes rich &, I’m not talking about money, it’s not things but experiences with those you love that bring an abundance of woohoo moments!

Change means you’re not standing still but moving forward in some way. So, don’t be scared when change comes a-knockin’, open that door & grow.

Cheers x

Spring is in the air! (even if it’s raining!)

I’m doin’ the countdown to Spring big time this year! Hubby & I spent 3 months in Tasmania, Australia, last year. Tasmania is an astonishingly picturesque island, truly beautiful  &, even though it was Spring when we were there, it actually felt like Winter. Cold, blustery days & lots of moody grey cloud. Of course, NOW, in France, we are only days away to Spring & it seems a weepy & sulky French sky is bidding Winter good-bye!

photo-1467923044809-87f242

Cherry trees are plentiful here, so much so that we pick copious amounts of them and Rob makes cherry liquor which we give as away as gifts at the end of the year. We have a cherry tree, too, it’s about to bud! The things in life that give us such remarkable joy are usually the most beautiful & delightful.  The French would say, “Extraordinaire!”

Our garden, too, is about to burst into a beautiful bouquet of colour. We prepared it well.  You see, Rob & I had a plan! When we were in Tasmania, we spent a lot of time at the botanical gardens, we took our books on days when the sun actually came out & STAYED! & we read, ate lunch there & then did our tour of the gardens & it was while we were admiring a particular section of garden (can’t quite remember exactly which one as we find all the gardens exceptional!) that we decided to turn our little patch of France into a beautiful one & so we rolled up our sleeves when we came back & got stuck into it! daffs, ranunculus, poppies, cosmos, heaps of lavender & hydrangea & many other colourful flowers are about to peel their Winter garb off & welcome Spring IN, as only a garden can!

photo-1492114011589-509c6e

14 days to go! Whoohoo! In the meantime, we console ourselves by picking bunches of daffs in the countryside & so far, our kitchen table hasn’t missed a bunch!

photo-1485431142439-206ba3

Rob’s making lunch. We both have colds. & even if it is a rainy day & the sun is teasing us by ducking in & out of a bad-tempered cloud, we have each other.

Tomorrow I’m going to chat about what to wear in Spring. I guess, it’s an individual thing, so, it’s really about what I’m going to wear in Spring & if you need some tips…help yourself!

Cheers! Oh, that’s not very French!

A bientôt!

Here’s to Extroverted Introverts!

Yep! I’m one. I’m a self-confessed extroverted introvert, usually, my gregarious side is more notable after 2 glasses of red. BIG ONES. I prefer my introverted side, I know my face screams extrovert, it really does, but behind that cheery face is a quiet creature. Ssh! 15135808_1334712123226938_4629148617126843511_n I enjoy good conversation, a delicious dinner or a concert with an intimate group of friends. I’m funny. Quite a light-hearted cheery soul, really. But, I do enjoy the quiet ‘me’ & I get to spend a tremendous amount of time with her… Madame Moi. It’s just as well I enjoy my own company because if I didn’t, I’d be an unhappy little puppy. I enjoy music, love it, but I think silence is my soul’s favourite piece, let it play…

Maybe that’s the reason why extroverted introverts have such cheery loud, expressive faces because the introvert is ever-present with the DO NOT DISTURB sign fixed firmly around her soul. The extroverted side enjoys the party while the introverted side gets to be present but as an observer & an absorber, reading the event like a good novel & thus, enjoying it at a deeper level. Always retiring at just the right time, leaving the extroverted side to bounce along on just enough energy to do the big clean up after the guests have gone. They get on. They help each other. It’s an interesting partnership. The introverted side never wants to go out & mingle, however, the extroverted side insists & a happy compromise is made by leaving an hour earlier. It’s a good way to be. I like it. I’m never lonely. Both sides bring me balance & peace. At heart, I am the introvert. She’s my fave!

Thrift Buy & Fashionably Thrive!

That’s me in Frankfurt, Germany, had walked all day & was feeling quite comfortably contented with myself on a bridge overlooking the legendary river Main. But, what’s particularly exciting about that pic is that super cool & very chic little black dress I bought, would you believe for an apple & an egg? (8 euros to be exact!) in a thrift shop, right in the heart of the city. It’s a good label. I bought a bargain, so call me BARGAIN QUEEN! because recently, as recent as last week, in fact, I bought in my all-time favorite shop ‘Down Under,’  a pair of Gucci glasses, authentic & just 3 bucks! Call me Bargain Queen! Because… I AM XimagesIt never ceases to amaze me the clothes  & accessories that women throw away! (Keep throwing them right my way, ladies!)I bought a platinum ring for 5 bucks in that same Australian thrift store & it was worth 6000 dollars!!! Noses up at Thrift stores, second-hand stores, Nah-uh! Not my nose! Thrift bought & fashionably thriving with my eclectic robe of all sorts, thank you very muchly! Grab a friend & spend the day doing a good thrift crawl. There’s nothing like a bargain to give you a fashionably good buzz! (Followed by cake & coffee, because a good thrift buy will keep those extra dollars in your pocket for other little treats.) Cheers X02-13-things-thrift-shop-wont-tell-you-new-clothes
